The GPs are generally available as follows:

Appointments

Patients who need to be seen urgently on the same day will be offered an appointment with either a GP or practice nurse - these appointments may be outside of the routine consultation times.

During our hours of opening a GP is on call, on a rota basis, for urgent consultations and urgent advice.

Booking in On Arrival

The Newthorpe Medical Centre has an automated booking in system.  This allows those with appointments to book in without needing to speak to one of our receptionists.

It is hoped that this will reduce unnecessary waiting when needing to speak to a member of staff for another reason.

It is quite easy to use and requires entering details relating to your date of birth.  Under no circumstances does this reveal any identifiable data about you.

Home Visits

Whenever possible please come to the surgery but if you are too ill to do so, the doctor may visit you at home. Please telephone the practice before 10.30 if you feel you need a home visit.

You will be asked some questions about your illness and the doctor may telephone you to assess the urgency of the visit. You may of course phone at any time if you need an urgent visit.

Home visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Medical Centre.
