Our Doctors

Dr Sarah Bamford

BMedSci, BMBS, MRCGP NOTTINGHAM – 1995 GMC No 4198723

Dr Bamford studied in Nottingham and qualified in 1995. She has been at Newthorpe Medical Centre since 2001 and is now Senior Partner, she is a trainer for GP Registrars (Dr’s training to become GP’s) and is responsible for their development whilst they are with us.

Dr Chris Cooley

BMedSci, BMBS, MRCGP NOTTINGHAM – 2009 GMC No 7045288

Dr Cooley also studied in Nottingham and he qualified in 2014. He joined the partnership after a year placement as a registrar. He is also a Trainer / Supervisor for the F2 doctors that we have with us.

Dr Joanne Arthurs

GMC No 7083013

Dr Arthurs (f) qualified as a GP in 2018 and joined us as a Partner in October 2019,  Dr Arthurs has a strong interest in Medical Education and is also a trainer and supervisor for the F2 doctors that we have with us.

Dr Judith Arukwe

Our Nurses

We have three practice nurses who work with the doctors to provide a wide range of services, which include:- Management of Long Term Conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, and Health Promotion, such as cervical smears, child health immunisations, general health checks and advice. If you require any of these services, please make an appointment with one of the nurses.

We have a full team of administration staff which includes, Medical Receptionists, Medical Secretaries, Note Summarisers and Administrators.

Our Attached Staff


Connor is our practice clinical pharmacist who can deal with many of the medication queries that you may have and who is also responsible for conducting medication reviews for our patients.


David is a community paramedic who is based with us at Newthorpe, he provides home visits to patients who are housebound or too unwell to visit the surgery
